FATTORIA LA LOGGIA

General description:
This is an absolute “must” for all those who love art. Fattoria La Loggia (two country estates, “Hamlet” and “Il Convento”) comprises of a lovely village of ancient buildings and lies, like the jewel in the crown of the Chianti Classico district, upon the Montefiridolfi hill, with a breathtaking view of the surroundings. The art city pre-eminently, Florence, is only 15 km. away. The fattoria was founded in 1427 by the Buondelmonti family and later on passed into the hands of the De Medici’s, both prominent members of the Renaissance nobility. The Fattoria La Loggia of today offers a relaxed, cordial atmosphere for those who want to feel the magic of the Tuscan history and traditions, whilst being sure they will be treated with the utmost hospitality.

This fattoria is so special because it is a centre of art with the “La Loggia Art Centre”, where many art manifestations take place and many artists have an “open studio” during the summer months. There is a museum of contemporary sculpture with works of several world-renowned sculptors such as Karel Appel, Arman, Spoerry, Pomodoro and Sassu. The works of art show to full advantage in these surroundings and can be admired by all the guests of the fattoria. The old “lemon house” is a favourite meeting place for many festivities.

All apartments and rooms are beautifully furnished, with antiques and original paintings of old masters. The smartest is the “De Luxe Room”, prestigiously furnished and a big bathroom with a shower “to end all showers”, designed by Philippe Stark, called “Gods Temple”. The age-old, thick walls (cool in summer, warm in winter) make air conditioning superfluous, but you can get a fan in your room (extra costs) if you would so require. Some of the apartments have an open fire place. This accommodation is an ideal place from which lots of interesting things and cities can be visited. A day at the beach is a possibility too. On the estate, good quality wines, olive oil etc. are produced and for sale.

Facilities:
Reception, garden, heated, salt-water swimming pool with hydro massage (18 x 10 m, depth about 1,60 m.), common barbecue, table tennis, a museum of modern art with frequent art manifestations as well as theatre performances. The 8 apartments are provided with heating, telephone, hair dryer, safe, tv satellite, radio and kitchenette or kitchen with fridge. The bathrooms are provided with wash basin, toilet, bathtub or shower. Most apartments are situated on the 1st floor and have no own terrace. However, there is sufficient communal space for eating outside without feeling crowded.

Possibilities for sports/excursions:
Trekking in the woods and vineyards. Riding, accompanied by a guide on the horses of La Loggia (minimum of 15 pers.) or just riding, at about 3 km. distance. Fishing and tennis courts at about 5 km. distance. Golf course (18 holes) Ugolino, at about 13 km. distance.

Distances:
At about 900 m a shop for your daily food requirements, at about 4 km. distance you will find banks, a post office, apothecary and shops. Florence town 15 km, Florence airport 35 km, Siena 45 km, Volterra 56 km, Lucca 90 km, Pisa airport 90 km, Perugia 150 km.

Particulars:
Prices are per seven overnights. Other periodes are possible, but minimal rental period for both apartments and rooms: 3 nights. Upon request, breakfast will be served; these extra costs to be settled before departure. As far as the rooms are concerned: Prices, inclusive Italian breakfast.

Included in the price: Usage of gas, water, electricity, heating, weekly change of bed linens, daily change of bath linens, usage of swimming pool, daily cleaning (one hour a day, except on Sundays and Italian feastdays; washing-up is not considered to be part of the daily cleaning); final cleaning and taxes. No extra charges for a baby-cot(bed)

Costs extra bed or usage of sofabed: € 40,00 per day

The swimming pool is open from the 1st of May till the 3rd of October, depending on the weather conditions

Check-in on the day of arrival between 16.00-18.30 hrs; check-out on the day of departure before 10.00 hrs.

Pets allowed, provided permission required and granted before booking. Extra costs € 10,00 per day (and a deposit of € 100,00)
