Why Italy? And why would you book with Elisabeth Travel?
Because we hope that your feelings for this country can be compared to ours. And also, because we are good in what we do. In this world, anything and everything, really, is for sale, but affinity is and will ever be something very individual. Elisabeth Travel is a tour operator not merely counting the cudo’s coming in, but very much involved personally with all aspects of the rich cultural heritage of this ancient country.

So many concepts used in contemporary life originated in the Italy from before and after our era. To mention but a few: architecture, ethical and esthetical values, legislation, art and, in imitation of the great Greek philosophers, democracy and right of self-determination. This diversification, with all its contradictions, make Italy such an enchanting country.

The Italy of this day and age, or better said, the Italians themselves, delight us with their “sapere vivere” and their “carpe diem”; their knowledge how to enjoy life and live it by the day. The Italian kitchen is, by origin, the “kitchen of the poor”, but in its pure simplicity, and by using only fresh ingredients, one eats like a king. Moreover, Italy has a great many excellent wines which, together with the meals, the sun and the, at least superficially happy-go-lucky attitude, make a very intense enjoyment easily come your way.

Because of this versatility, Italy has much to offer to a great many individuals. Elisabeth Travel always takes into account that not only the accommodation is important for a wonderful holiday, but also other factors such as a special atmosphere, historical backgrounds, culinary highlights, beautiful scenery etc.

We are continuously on the look-out for those accommodations which have something extra, setting them apart from the average and you may be assured that we have visited all our locations ourselves before adding them to our website. The only exceptions to this rule are the locations of Cuendet, an Italian-Swiss enterprise of which we carry an agency, and the very particular, on the whole also very luxurious villa’s of our Italian partners, who keep a close check on their accommodations. We keep regular contact with Cuendet as well as our Italian partners, and have visited quite a number of the latter locations ourselves.

We very intentionally distance ourselves from the treadmill of concrete boxes called hotels and mass-complexes of apartments, where one loses one’s identity. Sometimes, with a bleeding hart, we excluded locations with very special, beautiful surroundings, because whilst visiting we did not feel relaxed enough, or because the service was not welcoming enough. Our clients have always helped us, and we fervently hope they will continue to do so, to either continue or discontinue cooperation with certain accommodations, because we are gladly guided by their enthusiasm or eventual disappointment.

We do not give out brochures in which, once printed, no alterations can be made. Our website is our brochure, with authentic descriptions, our own experiences and some “local colouring” which we hope you appreciate. We strive to add tips, local Italian news and other things worth mentioning to our website, in order to give it extra life. We would be very pleased, if you can read our website as if you were reading a travel guide.

A lot of advertisements, in the travelling business, say that your holiday is “well earned or deserved”. We do not like these kind of conceptions; who are we to make such statements? Only our Maker can judge what one earns or not, be it a vacation or something else. We therefore prefer the term “an unique holiday experience”, of course in the positive sense. Anybody wanting to spend some time in Italy and for this purpose booking with Elisabeth Travel is, to us, unique, and is thus getting all the individual attention possible. In order to realise this striving, we always try getting you to open up and telling us what you really like and want. You might even think we ask too much: are you holidaying with family, friends, children and if so, age of the children, which are your preferences, do you like shopping, sports, etc, etc. But the more we know, the better we can advise you. We cannot influence the weather and your own mood, but we’ll be da…. if we will not try to give you one of the most wonderful holidays you ever had! (We would, of course, be tickled pink if you tell us, once returned, that you had the best holiday ever!) Apart from the necessary vouchers we send lots of special information on your surroundings. We can always tell our Italian business relations about your special wishes and, if only we know about these, we will not hesitate to do so. Once we mailed the travel particulars, we always contact you either by phone or by E-mail to check if you received it all, and upon return we will contact you to hear your comments.

To us, it is no more than a matter of course that, in case you need us, you can contact us during your holiday. We do want to stress this fact: in case you might have serious complaints, please react immediately! To start with, at the accommodation itself, and then to us. The sooner action can be taken, the better it always is.

“Memories are made of this” is the title of a world famous song by David Irving. We choose this song as our “one liner”, because it says exactly what we want: to realise a holiday for you which provides so many nice and happy memories that you can always think back on that time in joy and contentment. Live and fate can rob us of more than we want to think about now, but as long as our mind stays intact no one can take our memories away from us.
